Dazzle your taste buds with the great garlic and herb flavor of these biscuits. This cheddar biscuit recipe will remind you of your favorite restaurant's biscuits.
2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup buttermilk
Preheat oven to 425°F.
Mix flour, baking powder, seasonings, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Cut in shortening with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Toss in cheese. Add buttermilk; stir with fork until particles are moistened and cling together. Form dough into ball.
Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface. Knead gently 8 to 10 times. Roll dough out until 1/2-inch thick. Cut out biscuits using a floured 2-inch biscuit cutter. Place on baking sheet.
Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
