Bake Your Own Bread (BYOB) September 2011 Roundup

September is finally here. It’s been so hot lately, that even I haven’t been motivated to bake as much bread as usual.  However, this dedicated group of bakers managed to get some baking done in August in spite of the heat.

We made it through the heat of the summer. Now, it’s time to enjoy the lovely breads and other baked goods in the BYOB September Roundup.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Idania of El Aroma de IDania decided that before she closed the doors of “El Aroma de IDania” until September 1st, she wanted to publish one more bread. I’m so glad she chose to post about bread, especially this one.
Marion in the United Kingdom is very pleased that she has not bought a single loaf since February – and every time she visits her daughter and grandchildren, she can take some home made bread.  We’re proud of you too!
Abby with Stir It! Scrape It! Mix It! Bake It! also chose to make Focaccia with the Mellow Bakers in August.  Good choice!  I liked this one myself.
Heather of girlichef baked some delightful breads and a yummy pastry this month.  The Oatmeal Molasses Bread from the Joy of Cooking looks especially healthy and delicious.
Jill of BakingBread-101.com baked ginger cookies and some light multi-grain bread this month.  Although she didn’t bake as much this month, she also didn’t buy any bread—she ate from the freezer.  Way to go!
Winnie of Somthing Sweet has been a busy baker this past month. She made some unique breads and other baked goods.  I may have to give that Avocado Brioche a try.
The weather has been too hot and humid for Leslie of La Cocina de Leslie to bake very much this month, but she did have some fun baking Conchas with Heather of girlichef. She made chocolate, vanilla and strawberry.  Yum!
Connie of mydiscoveryofbread said that just before the workmen came and turned their house and of course the kitchen into a big cloud of dust and white paint, she baked these breads.  We’re so glad she was able to get some baking in.
Calamity Jane of Apron Stringz made the perfect whole grain biscuits.  She said no jam or honey for her… just the pure flavors of flour, butter and heaven.  I agree!  Being a Southerner, I love me some biscuits. Check these out.
Kathy in Derwood, Maryland baked the following breads and other goodies in August.  Then she went back to canning peaches and nectarines.  Sounds good to me.
  • Grill Bread
  • White Pullman Loaf
  • Blueberry Muffins
  • Department Store Muffins
  • Donut Muffins
  • Chocolate Cupcakes
  • Grandma’s White Moon Cake
Di of diskitchennotebook said “It’s been so darn hot here (79 days of 100+, eek!) that I haven’t been baking much bread. The ice cream machine has been going strong, though.”  I heard that!
