Maple Biscuits
This maple biscuit recipe makes a wonderful treat. These subtly flavored biscuits are terrific for breakfast or brunch.

Maple Biscuit Recipe

Ingredients:
3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
1 egg
1 teaspoon Imitation Maple Flavor
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon Ground Allspice
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) cold butter, cut into pieces

Directions:

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 13 minutes

Makes 10 servings.

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Mix brown sugar, sour cream, egg and maple flavor in medium bowl; set aside.

Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, allspice and salt in large bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture; stir in sour cream mixture until moistened.

Turn dough out onto floured surface. Quickly knead dough by gently folding and pressing dough for 10 to 12 strokes or until nearly smooth. Pat dough to 1-inch thickness. Using a floured 2-inch biscuit cutter, cut out the dough. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet.

Bake 13 to 15 minutes or until bottoms are brown and sides are firm.
